Politicans are not our friends - A PRO Prop. 207 argument

A well reasoned and articulate argument to vote FOR Prop. 207; Limiting Eminent Domain.

Read entire article by David Euchner here.

  Highlights:

"This proposition protects the rights of all property owners, rich and poor alike, from the misuse of eminent domain. The only people who stand to lose are politicians."

"Politicians hate Prop. 207 because it puts strict controls on how they may use eminent domain to take property. Small-town politicians — Democrats and Republicans alike — have been taking people's homes and small businesses and giving that property to real estate developers or large corporations."

Editorial: Time to put U.S. under new management

Time to put U.S. under new management

Sept. 9, 2006 12:00 AM I find it both encouraging and worthy of appreciation that The Arizona Republic would see clear to provide the Libertarian Party some equal copy ("Party aim: To recruit members," Valley & State, Aug. 29.

When the Republicans were founded in Ripon, Wis., in 1854, no one believed they would amount to anything. Six years later, they put Abraham Lincoln in the executive mansion. The rest, as they say, is history.

However, today, paraphrasing the old TV car ad, "It's not your father's Republican Party."

Thirty-five years ago, in 1971, many of the nation's registered Democrats and Republicans had grown disheartened and cynical, feeling that the major parties had not only gone astray, but were actually merging with one another. In the kindling of this conjecture, a new political party, based upon the fundamental principles of both the Founding Fathers and their new constitutional republic, was established and came to life: the Libertarian Party.

We are now in a national crisis and find our time-honored codes and standards all but thrust aside in America: the Constitution effectively suspended, free speech suppressed, habeas corpus nullified, the right to keep and bear arms abrogated, and due process of law all but abolished. These are absolute facts and are not the only outrages that have been committed in the name of "national security" since 9/11.

Enough is enough. It is now time for a regime change in Washington, for a new political party - the Libertarian Party - to raise America from of the dregs of 152 years of Demopublican repression, tyranny, war, mediocrity and perpetual debt.

It is time to put both Washington and its officious minions under new management and re-establish our genuinely libertarian pedigree before our splendid, noble nation becomes as "obliviated" as ancient Rome. - William N. Gaillard, Prescott

Shhh! The Auction’s about to begin.

I read somewhere that elections are only pre-sale auctions of the labor of the common man, and now I know it’s true.

Most Arizonans would be surprised to find out that come Thursday, July 18th, 2002, the downtown Hyatt Regency will become the posh scene of a frantic bidding war. It’s not so much that there’s a secret auction taking place that taints the event, but that all of the items for sale belong to you and me. If there were a preview, you’d no doubt find a lot of eye-opening political realities, perhaps a publicly-funded stadium, or two, a light-headed publicly-funded rail scheme, maybe a special project to stabilize a contributor’s company, or some tax-breaks for ‘special’ industries, another alternative fuels bill and most definitely those unalienable rights we hear so much about.

   Immigration

We are predominantly a nation of immigrants. Even the poem at the base of the Statue of Liberty proclaims, “Bring us your poor, your weak, your downtrodden…”

The real problem with immigration is the supposed association with: 1) Crime, 2) Welfare abuse and, 3) Displacement of our domestic Citizen workforce.

The first of these can be addressed by demanding of other nations a more complete record of just who is coming over. Based on this information, it Constitutionally falls to Congress to establish the criteria for coming to America—and to enforce such regulation.

HessForGovernor Free Market (China) Position Paper

  China

China, like all international markets, should be dealt with on an open and even-handed basis. We need to cultivate the Chinese people as true allies and trading partners, not as enemies.

This policy will exert pressure on their current system to “American-ize or Free-Market-ize” them. The more the people of China are exposed to the concept of freedom and respect for individual property rights, the more difficult it will be for their government to continue to commit human rights abuses.

Russia is a prime example of what happens when a repressive communist government opens up to international trade with a free market. Once the People get a taste of capitalism, there is no going back. The concept of freedom, and free-markets doesn’t require translation.

HessForGovernor Cloning Position Paper

    Cloning

Cloning—we can make another you? And if we could, who would they be? Would they possess ‘natural rights’ as independent individuals or would they be regarded as non- or sub-human? And who would be responsible for the inevitable mistakes?

These are serious questions as we now find ourselves poised on the brink of the possible. I believe these questions need to be fully resolved before we go any further.

I support genetic research as a means to define and possibly cure ailments any of us could face. But my support does not extend to public financing of research which will ultimately end up being controlled by individual private companies.

HessForGovernor Abortion Position Paper

    Abortion

Over 43 Million DEAD since 1973. This startling number says it all.

I propose a realistic alternative. The real question is: Do we NEED the bloodlust?

While I remain personally opposed to the killing of innocent human life at any stage, under any circumstance, there is absolutely no authority that endows the federal government with the authority to regulate or control such an act.

The 10th Amendment absolutely relegates such questions to the individual States. The people of the individual States must decide their own character and the course of action they will take.
