I first came to appreciate Scrog Hill on the last night of the last day of 1980.  Since then I have always thought of it as a public resource and a treasure that has come to represent Arizona, Phoenix in particular.  It was one of those landmarks, like Camelback Mountain or the Praying Monk; that you could count on to stay the same.  Now it’s been tainted by political fingering, an insulting pat on the figurative head of all those of American Indian descent.

Corruption and Waste

We need only look to our current Governor and Attorney General who not only abdicated their responsibilities to protect the resources of Arizona’s Citizens but they have delivered to us the glaring examples of extra-Constitutional squandering in the Alternative Fuels Fiasco, the use of public funds to favor a major private entertainment venture, that I call “Fumble Field”, and scores of other examples.

“The limits of tyranny are defined by the endurance of the oppressed”, so said Frederick Douglas in regard to individuals being owned, as property.  His words are clear—when the oppressed finally stand up to their oppressors, there is but one outcome—FREEDOM.

The Supreme Court’s recent decision in Kelo-vs-New London marks what is probably the single most significant milestone in America’s devolution from a Free Constitutional Republic (*a written body of law based solely upon Constitutionally enumerated duties and functions, along with unequivocal limitations in regard to encroachment upon the inseparable natural Rights of each individual) to a Socialist Democracy  (*a doctrine of ‘mob’ rule, the Founding Fathers referred to as; the most vulgar and vile form of government where tyranny from the majority can ‘vote away’ a person’s individual Rights, privacy and property).
