Former Congressman and US Attorney Bob Barr gets it.  Just like Ronald Reagan did.

More and more Republicans and Democrats are starting to understand exactly what Sen. Zell Miller meant when he said that his party has left him.  Their party is leaving them too.

The current Governor (D) and existing legislature (R controlled) passed a budget this year with a 20%+ increase in spending, all while both sides claiming that they can't work together.  Well, I'd hate to see what they would spend if they could work together.

Time to put U.S. under new management

Sept. 9, 2006 12:00 AM I find it both encouraging and worthy of appreciation that The Arizona Republic would see clear to provide the Libertarian Party some equal copy ("Party aim: To recruit members," Valley & State, Aug. 29.

When the Republicans were founded in Ripon, Wis., in 1854, no one believed they would amount to anything. Six years later, they put Abraham Lincoln in the executive mansion. The rest, as they say, is history.

However, today, paraphrasing the old TV car ad, "It's not your father's Republican Party."

Thirty-five years ago, in 1971, many of the nation's registered Democrats and Republicans had grown disheartened and cynical, feeling that the major parties had not only gone astray, but were actually merging with one another. In the kindling of this conjecture, a new political party, based upon the fundamental principles of both the Founding Fathers and their new constitutional republic, was established and came to life: the Libertarian Party.

We are now in a national crisis and find our time-honored codes and standards all but thrust aside in America: the Constitution effectively suspended, free speech suppressed, habeas corpus nullified, the right to keep and bear arms abrogated, and due process of law all but abolished. These are absolute facts and are not the only outrages that have been committed in the name of "national security" since 9/11.

Enough is enough. It is now time for a regime change in Washington, for a new political party - the Libertarian Party - to raise America from of the dregs of 152 years of Demopublican repression, tyranny, war, mediocrity and perpetual debt.

It is time to put both Washington and its officious minions under new management and re-establish our genuinely libertarian pedigree before our splendid, noble nation becomes as "obliviated" as ancient Rome. - William N. Gaillard, Prescott

I read somewhere that elections are only pre-sale auctions of the labor of the common man, and now I know it’s true.

 

Most Arizonans would be surprised to find out that come Thursday, July 18th, 2002, the downtown Hyatt Regency will become the posh scene of a frantic bidding war.  It’s not so much that there’s a secret auction taking place that taints the event, but that all of the items for sale belong to you and me.  If there were a preview, you’d no doubt find a lot of eye-opening political realities, perhaps a publicly-funded stadium, or two, a light-headed publicly-funded rail scheme, maybe a special project to stabilize a contributor’s company, or some tax-breaks for ‘special’ industries, another alternative fuels bill and most definitely those unalienable rights we hear so much about.

Political Corruption

Americans of all backgrounds are sick and tired of the growing problem of political corruption and abuse. Every day more and more examples of the abuse of power by elected and appointed officials hit the newsstands. These problems are epidemic in both the Democratic and the Republican parties.

 

The House Bank -- set up with bipartisan support -- was supposed to be a convenient way for busy congressmen to cash their paychecks. What it turned out to be was a scam for many congressmen -- a way to write bad checks often totalling more than a congressman's pay. If you or I did this at our local bank, we would be subject to criminal prosecution and fines in most states. Why should congressmen allow themselves to do something wrong? Should we be surprised that a group of people who cannot balance their own checkbooks cannot balance our national budget?
